On a lazy Sunday evening when we are bored of our self cooking and want to try something different and sizzling, topped with friendly gossips and pranks, the best option which we could think of is our very own ‘gioRgio’.
gioRgio - A Multi cuisine restaurant, just off the Eliots Beach front, at the Velankanni Church end at Besant Nagar, Chennai. IT DOESN'T matter if you call it "JoJo" or George-Oh, one thing is certain - people having deep passion for pasta, sizzlers, brownie, and kebabs are here in a big way! Well when I think of giorgio its not only the food which drives me crazy but also all the memories which I have with my frens....specially the walks from giorgio to adyar bus depot
to compensate on the cheezy and brownie dinner... lols... a wonderful memory indeed :)
When a group of friends with a stock of gossips and tales decide to sit down around a single table, ‘gioRgio’ is the best place. Veg or Chicken kebabs served with the mint chutney perfectly serves the purpose of starters not only for the dinner but also for the chat.
As we drill down the dinner course, pastas and sizzlers can be the appropriate options. Pastas which are very popular today amongst the ‘let’s eat out crowd’ are given the proper delicacy in this fantasy food destination. Non veg pastas when served with minced chicken pieces with cheese and mayonese are irresistable. Even if they might be clogging up our arteries faster in the form of cholesterol or fat, but at that moment thoughts would love go to blank and concentrate only on the pastas.
When it comes to sizzlers, be it the Chicken pepper steak or roasted Chicken Marsala or the Mexican veggie sizzler, they give a yummy feeling. Chicken pepper steaks when served with smashed potatoes dipped in butter and baked chicken pieces leave us speechless because we would only love to concentrate on the food rather than anything else. For a moment we stop all our conversation and get deep into the yummy cuisine served.
The last and the most awaited part of the dinner are the sizziling brownies topped with a vanilla ice cream. The brownies get even tastier when instead of one spoon, there are 3-4 spoons scooping from the single brownie. Might be that is the speciality of desserts, it gets tastier when shared rather than had full!
The dinner journey from starters (kebabs) to desserts (brownies) with stations of pastas and sizzlers gets more interesting with the restaurant ambience. It’s an old Besant nagar style house with a series of small rooms painted on the wall, track lights hung from the ceiling and one of the walls transformed with a giant painting taken from the movie "Moulin Rouge", so that for one dizzy moment you feel you have stepped into Montmartre, in Paris. Another wall has a large DVD screen that constantly unspools matches or some music videos. Apart form all hustles there's also a small room towards one corner of the main hall, where people preferring to sit quietly may choose to do so.
On the whole this Fantasy Food destination happens to be the perfect and awesome place for a sizzling dinner accompanied with friendly gossips. Though the bills might take our breath at times but it very successfully satisfies our thought of a ‘cozy weekend evening’.
For me giorgio is not only a good hang out but also some wonderful memories to cherish:)
